News Article Depicting Suspected Murder of Bog Brook Asylum Patient.
The body of Maria Hope, a patient of seven years at Bog Brook Asylum, was found yesterday morning lodged into one of the large debris-filters in the local Maryland Dam, one mile west of Bog Brook. She had suffered blunt force trauma to her head which experts say was likely caused by a door slamming against it. Maria, an only child, had no family to grieve her loss. Her parents, Dayna and Joyce Hope, had both tragically lost their lives when a drunk Dayna accidentally set their home ablaze. Maria’s body being the third found in the same debris filter in the last eight months, local law enforcement is becoming exponentially suspicious of the activity within Bog Brooks’s walls, and the practices and intentions of its staff.

I chose to write this news article to give some back story of one of Bog Brook’s patients and showing that they specifically treat trauma patients. This sets up the kind of misfits that are admitted into Bog Brook, and how they mysteriously show up dead in a strange location near the asylum. I also wanted to build some suspense with the staff of Bog Brook being in local law enforcement’s crosshairs.

I chose to include a medical report for Maria Hope to give even more of a background than the news paper article. Even more so, I included it to make the reader realize just how normal Maria truly is. The way she reacts to the death of her parents is perfectly understandable and she even had the mental capacity to tell the police about it.
